Wikipedia Monument Competition

Not every competition can surface on the internet without the feeling of doubt but the integrity of Wikipedia makes the 2016 Wikimedia Photography Competition a fun to be part of.

Nigeria is up for the 2016 Wiki Loves Monuments Competition. According to the wikipedia article, "Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) is an annual international photographic competition held during the month of September, organised worldwide by Wikimedia chapters, groups and local Wikipedia volunteers. The public takes photos of monuments, upload those to Wikimedia Commons, and then they can be used in Wikipedia and elsewhere."

It doesn't take any stress nor photography prowess. If you're a Nigerian and there is a monument nearby, just take a shot and be part of the fun. What is a monument? A monument is a structure built for commemorative or symbolic reasons, or as a memorial; Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Ogun state is an example of a monument.

The competition is supported by Wikimedia User Group Nigeria and and the competition starts 1st September, 2016 till 30th September, 2016 then the competition result by the end of
October 2016. Contestants can promote their monument pics on social network sites with the hashtag #WLMNigeria.

It must be clearly stated that wikipedia expects contestants to upload only the images of the monuments listed below:-
